Makeup Monday: Beauty Chatter Do's & Don'ts

Makeup is a form of enhancement, it is not meant to be used as a shield to mask insecurities. Everyone has flaws and imperfections that should be embraced and can be beautifully enhanced with the art of makeup. Learn how to properly apply products for your skin texture and skin tone. Just a few Do's & Don'ts for you:

Do's

  • Recognize the beauty of your flaws and imperfections.

  • Embrace your flaws and imperfections.

  • It's okay to wear red, pink or purple lips. (if worn properly)

  • Go bold or go bare...either can be beautiful

  • Less is more.

  • Get a professional to match your foundation properly.

  • Exfoliate your skin and your lips weekly for a smoother application of products.

  • Use proper skin care to produce healthy skin.

  • Love the skin you're in.

Don'ts

  • Don't use makeup to mask your flaws.

  • Don't be afraid to try something different and out the box.

  • Don't wear highlighter that does not compliment your skin tone. (darker skin tones should not wear silver highlights on the cheek bone)

  • Contour is not always necessary.

  • Don't draw a harsh brow and trim it with super light concealer.

  • Don't wear glitter if you are not willing to clean the fallout off your face.

  • Don't line your lips with a black pencil.

  • Don't wear matte lip products if you have dry lips.

  • Don't be afraid to use colored eyeliner for a pop of color.

  • Don't compare yourself to someone else.

This list can go on and on but you must learn what works for you and what compliments your features. Never try to be someone else. Embrace your uniqueness and know that you are beautiful with or without makeup! Love yourself so makeup is not necessary but it's optional.
